102: Types of turns!

Today I learnt about three different types of turns used to play with robots. I’m going to share my understanding about them.

  1. Tank Turn – this is when one wheel is moving forward and the other is moving backwards. The robot does a really sharp turn . This is also called single point turn.
  2. Pivot turn – this is when one wheel is moving forward and other is not moving, the robot is just rotating around the stationary wheel and this is called a pivot turn or two point turn. If the right wheel is moving forward then the robot turns right and vice versa.
  3. Three point turn- this is when both wheels move in same forward direction but with different speeds, the robot will turn as the wheel with higher speed. This is how we drive cars too!

Basically all the motion is controlled by wheels and by programming how wheels move we can move the robot around. Looking forward to programming one!
